Karma phala artinya buah dari perbuatan yang telah dilakukan atau yang akan dilakukan. Karma phala memberi optimisme kepada setiap manusia, bahkan semua makhluk hidup. Dalam ajaran ini, semua perbuatan akan mendatangkan hasil bagi yang berbuat. Apapun yang kita lakukan/perbuat, maka seperti itulah hasil yang kita terima. yang menerima adalah yang berbuat bukan orang lain. Karma Phala adalah sebuah hukum universal bahwa setiap perbuatan akan mendatangkan hasil. Dalam konsep Hindu, berbuat itu terdiri atas: perbuatan melalui pikiran, perbuatan melalui perkataan dan perbuatan melalui tingkah laku, Ketiganya dikenal dengan Tri Kaya Parisudha. Ketiga perbuatan inilah yang akan mendatangkan hasil bagi yang berbuat. Kalau perbuatan baik hasilnya pasti baik, dan demikian pula sebaliknya. Hasil kerja atau perbuatan berwujud secara nyata dan tidak nyata. Wujud yang nyata (skala) adalah hal keduniawian sedangkan wujud yang tidak nyata (niskala) adalah ketentraman bathin. Ditinjau dari waktu saat bekerja/berbuat (karma) dengan waktu menerima hasil (phala), maka karma phala dibedakan menjadi tiga, yaitu:
- Sancita Karma Phala (Phala/hasil yang diterima pada kehidupan sekarang atas perbuatan dikehidupan sebelumnya.
- Prarabdha Karma Phala (Karma atau perbuatan yang dilakukan saat ini dan hasil/phalanya akan diterima pada kehidupan saat ini pula.
- Kryamana Karma Phala (Karma/perbuatan yang dilakukan pada kehidupan saat ini namun hasilnya akan dinikmati pada kehidupan yang akan datang)
